EveryYouth supported over 2,000 young people in 2023 | EveryYouth

The perfect storm for young people facing homelessness

EveryYouth’s mission is to create opportunities for every young person to thrive. Our second Impact Report shows the steps we are taking to make that mission a reality.

In 2023, the UK’s housing and inflation crises, coupled with the lingering effects of COVID-19, created a perfect storm, harming thousands of young people. Rising housing costs and policy decisions trapped young people in homeless services with no realistic path to independence. EveryYouth, like many charities, faced challenges as competition for funding became fierce and donors were stretched thin, making it difficult to maintain, let alone expand, our support.

Set against this back-drop, the EveryYouth Network and the young people we support have demonstrated incredible resilience. In 2023, EveryYouth helped 2,167 young people take measurable steps towards a brighter future.

Across all EveryYouth Programmes, the average cost per outcome was £648 (excluding spending on monitoring and evaluation, governance and fundraising), representing great value for money. The Shining Stories on our website illustrate the impact of these outcomes and why we remain optimistic about young people’s potential, regardless of their start in life.

EveryYouth Healthy – Supporting young people with their mental health

EveryYouth Healthy reduces waiting times for mental health services for young people facing homelessness. It aims to provide mental health interventions within two weeks of a request for support.

In 2023, EveryYouth Health supported 167 young people with mental health counselling. 90% of those young people reported that they are better able to manage their mental health.

EveryYouth Employed – Supporting young people into work

EveryYouth Employed provides young people facing homelessness with specialist coaches to help them become job-ready. Our Employability Boost is a bursary scheme that helps young people overcome the costs associated with getting into work and education.

In 2023, EveryYouth Employed supported 871 young people with specialist coaching and distributed 434 boosts to young people facing homelessness. As a result, 414 young people went on to enter employment, education or training.

EveryYouth Homed – Supporting young people into their own home

EveryYouth Homed helps young people overcome the barriers that prevent them from moving into safe and stable accommodation by providing the practical support they need, when they need it. That includes specialist housing support, as well as a bursary to cover a rent deposit or home furnishings.

In 2023, EveryYouth Homed helped 591 young people move into a home of their own.

Part of EveryYouth Homed is the Future Builders programme. This programme provides affordable housing to young people facing homelessness and also engaged in education, employment and training opportunities. In 2023, Future Builders supported 46 young people.
