Hey, I'm David! This is my story:
I was born a triplet in Belfast. I am one of three – three boys. That was mad growing up!
At 14 I was fostered and moved into my local EveryYouth charity when I was 16. Everyone here has helped me so much. They’ve opened doors to help me do better in my life.
My support worker and I bounce off each other and have really good chemistry. Having a close bond with my support worker has really helped me progress and better myself.
I have my own house now and have finally painted it and furnished it with their help. I can feel it – my life is going up.
I want my future to be settled. I want to be in my own house, be working and have my own wee family. I can see myself doing youth work 100%. I would be able to use my life experience and opinions to help other young people.
To me, homelessness is not just about someone’s housing situation. It’s linked with your mental health, emotional wellbeing and relationships with friends and family.
EveryYouth
, every future
EveryYouth is the national charity for 16-25 year olds facing homelessness.
EveryYouth exists to help vulnerable young people access mental health support, enter meaningful employment, and secure a home of their own.
Homelessness is a symptom of wider personal and systemic issues. These issues can only be properly addressed through holistic and patient support.
Building on a decade of sector experience, we know that with the right support at the right time, young people can overcome the stressors of their childhoods and succeed on their own terms.
